Biography

Nimish Pujara is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He joined UBC in 2025 after completing his doctorate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University. He also obtained undergraduate and master's degrees in Engineering from the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining UBC, Dr. Pujara held a postdoctoral research and teaching position in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and was a faculty member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. His research focuses on fluid mechanics, particularly in applications related to environmental and geophysical phenomena, including coastal engineering. He has a strong interest in various aspects of fluid dynamics and its interactions with biological systems, sediment transport, and pollution management.
