Biography

Nina Buchmann is a Full Professor in the Department of Environmental Systems Science at ETH Zurich, specializing in plant ecosystem physiology and biogeochemistry of terrestrial ecosystems including forests, grasslands, and croplands. Her research focuses on the responses of soil ecosystem carbon, nitrogen, and water dynamics to various climatic conditions and management regimes. Buchmann has been recognized for her contributions to the field of ecology, receiving numerous awards including the Distinguished Alumna award from the University of Utah and the Honorary Medal from the Ecological Society in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
