Biography

Nina Gantert specializes in Probability Theory, focusing particularly on Stochastic Processes, Large Deviations, and Random Media. Her research investigates random walks in random environments, which serve as models for transport in disordered media. She is also interested in the applications of Probability Theory in the fields of Physics and Biology. Gantert completed her studies at ETH Zürich and earned her PhD from the University of Bonn in 1991, with a dissertation titled "Some Large Deviations of Brownian Motion" supervised by Hans Föllmer. She has undergone post-doctoral research in Haifa and Paris and received her habilitation degree from the Technical University of Berlin in 2000. Over her career, she has held faculty positions at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the University of Münster before moving to the Technical University of Munich in 2011. Gantert was elected as a fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics in 2016.
