Nina Lazarevic is a Research Fellow at the Centre of Epidemiology for Policy and Practice at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health. She holds a PhD in Environmental Epidemiology and Biostatistics as well as Master's degrees in Biostatistics and Environmental Science. With previous experience as an econometrician in banking and market research, Nina's research interests include statistical methods in environmental epidemiology, focusing particularly on estimating health effects from environmental chemical mixtures and exposome-health associations. She employs Bayesian nonparametric statistical methods to investigate health effects resulting from prenatal environmental exposures on child development and maternal health. One of her significant projects is the Per-Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Health Study, which examines the effects of PFAS exposure on cardiometabolic health, liver, and kidney function, as well as psychological distress among residents in PFAS-contaminated regions. Currently, she is involved in large-scale linked data studies informing government policy on cardiovascular disease prevention and assessing the impacts of telehealth policy changes on chronic disease management, including the ACT Asbestos Health Study II related to mesothelioma cancer incidence and asbestos exposure.
