Biography

Prof. Uhlenhaut's research focuses on investigating gene regulatory mechanisms that mediate hormone responses. Using the latest genome-wide techniques combined with preclinical models, she aims to discover new therapeutic approaches for metabolic inflammatory diseases, such as diabetes and asthma. She studied at the Technical University of Braunschweig and Georgia Tech in Atlanta, receiving her doctorate from EMBL Heidelberg. After postdoctoral research at the Salk Institute in San Diego and the MDC in Berlin, she became a group leader at the Helmholtz Zentrum München and later was appointed as a professor of 'Metabolic Programming' at the Technical University of Munich in 2019.
