Biography

Ninad Mehta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. He graduated with a Master of Science in Microbiology from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in India and later obtained a Master of Science in Cell Biology from Georgia State University in Atlanta. He completed his PhD in Virology at the University of Alberta, focusing on the interaction between poxvirus and the host's innate immune system. Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Mehta was a post-doctoral fellow at the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta, where his research concentrated on the development of Point-of-Care diagnostic detection methods for malaria and DENV in resource-limited settings. His work included a field trial of malaria diagnostics in rural India. Dr. Mehta has also completed a Clinical Microbiology Fellowship (ABMM) at the University of Utah/ARUP Laboratories, Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2021.
