Biography

Ninian Lang is a Professor of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health with expertise in Cardio-Oncology and heart failure. He serves as an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Beatson West Scotland Cancer Centre. His clinical and academic work focuses on cardio-oncology and the integration of clinical practice with an active research programme. He runs the West Scotland cardio-oncology service and is involved in translational research addressing vascular and myocardial injuries induced by anti-cancer therapies. Lang graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School with a BSc in Neuroscience and an MBChB, the latter of which earned him the Annandale Gold Medal for Clinical Surgery. He undertook significant clinical training in cardiology and was awarded the Bristol-Myers Squibb Cardiovascular Prize Fellowship for PhD research at the University of Edinburgh. After being appointed as a Lecturer in Cardiology, he transitioned to a substantive position at the University of Glasgow in 2014. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the European Society of Cardiology, and serves as Associate Editor for JACC: CardioOncology.
