Professor Dr. Ninni Carlsson

Biography

Ninni Carlsson, PhD, is a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in social work with a focus on gender-based violence. Her research interests include domestic violence, child sexual abuse, and the educational needs of higher education staff. Ninni has developed courses aimed at addressing violence against women and domestic violence within various academic programs. She has a background in Social Pedagogy, Biomedicine, and Human Sciences, with extensive experience in supporting and empowering women and children affected by violence. Ninni's doctoral thesis examined the social, personal, and historical contexts of child sexual abuse, contributing to a broader understanding of this critical issue. Currently, she is engaged in ongoing research funded by the Gender Equality Authority, focusing on implementing national learning outcomes for professionals in social work related to violence against women and domestic violence. Ninni has been active in various initiatives aimed at improving educational practices and fostering academic development for teaching staff.
