Dr. Nino Luraghi

Biography

Nino Luraghi is the Wykeham Professor of Ancient Greek History at the University of Oxford and a fellow at New College. He has a background in Greek history and is particularly interested in social and cultural history. His research encompasses the study of ideology, Greek tyranny, and ethnicity, with a strong focus on the Peloponnese region. Luraghi's work also delves into Greek historiography and the origins of the Greek alphabet. At present, he is concentrating on the cultural history of early Hellenistic Athens, along with a special interest in the sociology of folktales and popular narratives. He is recognized for his contributions to the field through various publications, elucidating the complexities of ancient Greek society.
