Dr. Nir Vulkan

Biography

Nir Vulkan is an associate professor at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, specializing in the fields of fintech, e-commerce, market design, and applied research on hedge funds. His research focuses on the integration of finance and technology, particularly in algorithmic trading and market design. He has worked with regulators and government agencies to promote the use of artificial intelligence in finance and chaired the Banking Finance Committee on Ethical AI in 2020, providing recommendations to the European Parliament. Nir is also a member of the Insurance Committee on Ethical AI. In addition to his academic role, he is a Fellow at Worcester College and a member of the Oxford Man Institute of Quantitative Finance. He served as the Executive Director of the Oxford Centre for Entrepreneurship from 2009 to 2011. His teaching includes a UK course on fintech that he created in 2016, which runs annually as an MBA Executive MBA elective. He has also developed core courses in Managerial Economics and Entrepreneurship for MBA programs, as well as elective courses on hedge funds and trading. Nir has published discussion papers on equity crowdfunding and the regulatory sandbox's impact on the fintech industry. His expertise spans various areas, including fintech, algorithmic trading, market design, e-commerce, and hedge funds.
