Dr. Nirmish Shah

Biography

Nirmish Ramesh Shah is an Associate Professor at Duke University, specializing in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. He completed his Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Duke University, and prior to that, he pursued a Fellowship in Adult Hematology/Oncology at East Carolina University. Nirmish has a solid educational background, having earned his M.D. from the American University of the Caribbean, and completed a residency in medicine and pediatrics at East Carolina University. His research interests encompass sickle cell disease, including the management of acute and chronic complications associated with the condition. He leads various projects aimed at improving care models and addressing social determinants of health. Nirmish has published extensively in the field and has received multiple grants to support his research activities, indicating his commitment to advancing healthcare provisions for pediatric patients. As a faculty member involved in Bass Connections, he contributes to global health research, working on integrative healthcare initiatives for populations with sickle cell disease in various countries.
