Dr. Nita Ahuja

Biography

Nita Ahuja, MD, MBA, is a distinguished professor and an expert in surgical oncology. She serves as the Dean of the School of Medicine and Public Health and Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She obtained her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and completed her general surgery training and surgical oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. Ahuja has developed a significant international reputation for her expertise in managing sarcomas and complex gastrointestinal cancers. Her laboratory is NIH funded and focuses on identifying new biomarkers for pancreatic and colon cancers using innovative liquid biopsy techniques. With over 300 publications to her name, Ahuja has played a pivotal role in advancing the field of surgical oncology. She has led numerous national and international clinical trials aiming to improve outcomes in patients with gastrointestinal and breast cancers. Ahuja's leadership roles extend to serving on multiple editorial boards and esteemed organizations such as the National Academy of Medicine.
