Biography

Noa Marom is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He obtained a B.A. in Physics and a B.S. in Materials Engineering, cum laude, from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 2003. Marom earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2010, where he was awarded the Shimon Reich Memorial Prize for Excellence in his thesis. Following his doctorate, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute for Computational Engineering Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. Marom held a position as an assistant professor at Tulane University from 2013 to 2016 before joining Carnegie Mellon University, where he initially served as an assistant professor and was promoted to associate professor in 2021. He has courtesy appointments in the Departments of Chemistry and Physics and is a member of the Pittsburgh Quantum Institute and the Scott Institute for Energy Innovation. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the NSF CAREER Award and the American Physical Society Fellow designation. Marom's research interests focus on large-scale computing and machine learning applications in material sciences, aiming to identify and optimize semiconductor materials.
