Biography

Noa Marom is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He received his B.A. in Physics and B.S. in Materials Engineering, cum laude, from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 2003, and completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2010. Marom's expertise lies in the intersection of materials science and computational methods, specifically in computational modeling and large-scale computing in the field of materials design. His postdoctoral research was conducted at the Institute for Computational Engineering Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. He has held various academic positions, including Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics at Tulane University. Since joining Carnegie Mellon University, he has contributed significantly to the field and has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the NSF CAREER Award, the IUPAP Young Scientist Prize, and the APS Fellow designation. Marom also serves as an Associate Editor for npj Computational Materials and is a member of the Pittsburgh Quantum Institute and the Scott Institute for Energy Innovation. His research interests include machine learning applications in materials discovery and semiconductor research.
