Biography

Noah G. Hoffman is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Informatics Division at the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Washington. He co-directs the NGS Analytics Laboratory and oversees Specialty Clinical Informatics and Pathology services at UW Medicine. His research interests focus on the intersection of software development and operational analytical needs in clinical laboratories, including data analytics, bioinformatics, and process improvement. His work also includes the development and application of bioinformatic tools for nucleic acid sequence-based identification of microbiota in both basic and clinical research. Dr. Hoffman received his undergraduate, MD, and PhD degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied HIV evolution. He completed his residency training in Clinical Pathology at the University of Washington and holds board certifications in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Informatics from the American Board of Pathology.
