Biography

Noah Malmstadt received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1997 and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Washington in 2003. He completed his postdoctoral work in Bioengineering at UCLA in 2007 and has since been a faculty member at the University of Southern California. He currently holds the position of Professor in the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, where he has joint appointments in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry. Throughout his career, Malmstadt has received numerous accolades including the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, the Charles Lee Powell Foundation Research Award, and the Viterbi School of Engineering Junior Research Award. He was honored as a 2016 Journal Laboratory Automation Ten Honoree and has actively contributed to the National Academy of Engineering Frontiers in Engineering Education Symposium as an invited attendee.
