Biography

Noah Malmstadt received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from California Institute of Technology in 1997 and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Washington in 2003. He completed postdoctoral work in Bioengineering at UCLA. Since 2007, he has been on the faculty at the University of Southern California, currently serving as a Professor in the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science with joint appointments in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry. Malmstadt has received numerous awards, including the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, the Charles Lee Powell Foundation Research Award, and the USC Ph.D. Student Mentoring Award. In 2016, he was recognized as a Ten Honoree by the Journal Laboratory Automation. He has been involved in various initiatives, including an invited attendance at the National Academy of Engineering Frontiers of Engineering Education Symposium.
