Biography

Nobuhisa Ishizuka is the Executive Director of the Center for Japanese Legal Studies at Columbia Law School, where he oversees programming strategy and promotes scholarly exchanges among faculty and practitioners in the field of Japanese law. With over 40 years of experience, he previously served as a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, advising on corporate and financial matters, especially mergers and acquisitions, which have been featured in leading financial publications. Ishizuka has been recognized as a leading lawyer in Asia-Pacific by Chambers and IFLR1000. He holds a B.A. from Columbia College and a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Senior Editor of the Columbia Law Review. In addition to his role at Columbia, Ishizuka is involved with various organizations, including the Council on Foreign Relations and the Japanese American Association of New York, and he teaches international business law.
