Noel Semple is an Associate Professor at the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law. His research focuses on access to justice and examines how legal institutions function in real-world contexts. With a commitment to enhancing the ability of legal institutions to generate justice, he employs empirical research (both quantitative and qualitative) and policy analysis as pivotal tools in his scholarship. Semple contributes to the traditions of empirical legal studies and has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Windsor Yearbook of Access Justice, a peer-reviewed open-source scholarly journal, from 2017 to 2019. In his teaching, he engages students in various fields including civil dispute resolution, legal ethics and professionalism, legal services regulation, and family law. He also directs the Windsor Legal Practice Simulation program, offering first-year law students a practical, week-long legal practice experience. His book, "Accessibility, Quality, and Profitability for Personal Plight Law Firms: Hitting the Sweet Spot", is available free from the Canadian Bar Association, while his other work, "Legal Services Regulation at the Crossroads: Justitia’s Legions", is published by Edward Elgar Press as a hardcover and an affordable e-book. He actively participates on the Boards of Directors for the South Etobicoke Community Legal Services and the National Self-Represented Litigants Project.
