Biography

Noorshina Virani is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine. She leads the musculoskeletal section and serves as the team lead physician for the Neuromusculoskeletal Program at Alberta Health Services' Chronic Pain Centre. Dr. Virani received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1992 and completed her MD at Queen’s University in 1996. Following this, she completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Alberta, along with training in Electromyography in 2001. Her clinical work primarily focuses on spasticity management, chronic non-malignant pain management, musculoskeletal conditions, and Electromyography (EMG) in patients with neurological disorders. Additionally, she is the director of the long-term care visiting physiatry program at Carewest's Dr. Vernon Fanning Center and works as a neuromusculoskeletal consultant at Alberta Health Services' Chronic Pain Centre.
