Nora Shipp is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Washington. She specializes in near-field cosmology and galactic dynamics, utilizing a combination of observational data and simulations to explore the Milky Way galaxy and the formation of dark matter structures. Her research includes large astronomical surveys such as the Dark Energy Survey, Gaia, and the upcoming Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). Shipp's work focuses on studying the population of satellite galaxies and star clusters within the Milky Way, as well as the physics of tidal disruption events. She earned her Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Chicago in 2021 and holds an Sc.B. in Physics from Brown University, which she completed in 2014. Shipp is currently accepting new graduate students to join her research efforts in advancing the understanding of cosmological structures and dynamics.
