Biography

Noreen Goldman is the Hughes-Rogers Professor of Demography at Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs and a Faculty Associate at the Office of Population Research. Specializing in demography and epidemiology, Goldman’s research focuses on the impact of social and economic factors on adult health, alongside the physiological pathways through which these factors operate. She has designed large-scale surveys in Guatemala investigating the determinants of illness and healthcare choices for women and children in rural areas, as well as a longitudinal data collection effort in Taiwan that explores linkages between social environments, stress, physiological function, and health outcomes among older persons. Her current research examines racial and ethnic disparities in health and longevity, with a particular focus on Latino populations. Goldman has served as a co-investigator on a new large-scale field study of cardiovascular health in disadvantaged young adults and has held numerous influential positions including a member of the Board of Directors at the Guttmacher Institute and a fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. She has also been a visiting professor at UCLA and the University of Fribourg in Switzerland and authored over 200 articles in various scholarly journals, alongside book chapters and monographs.
