Dr. Norma Arizpe

Biography

Norma Arizpe is a Senior Lecturer at Texas A&M University, where she teaches undergraduate courses in Spanish and related disciplines. She received her B.A. from Pan American University in 1971 and her M.A. from the University of Michigan, also in 1971. Her teaching portfolio includes courses such as SPAN 310 Oral Expression, SPAN 302 Advanced Grammar, and SPAN 303 Composition Conversation. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her commitment to education, receiving the College Level Association Students Distinguished Award for Teaching in 2009. In addition, she was honored by students in 1992 for her dedication to teaching, which led to the naming of “Fish Camp” in her honor. In 2005-2006, she chaired the university-wide committee for “¡Siempre! 130 years of Hispanics at Texas A&M,” which led to an exhibit housed at the Cushing Library. Her research interests include Hispanic Studies, Spanish Grammar, and the implications of culture in the Spanish Medical Professions, as well as the educational needs of Spanish Heritage Speakers.
