Biography

Norman Urs Baier is a professor at the Bern University of Applied Sciences, specializing in Control Systems and Mechatronics. He studied Electrical Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. His research focuses on signal processing and biologically inspired models, demonstrating the capability of neural networks to identify and mimic time series generated by dynamic stochastic systems. Notably, his work led to the development of a novel classification framework based on identified models. He earned a Doctorate in Technical Sciences and has held positions at various prestigious institutions, including the European Patent Office, the leading provider of electromagnetic compatibility test equipment, Teseq, and Trimerics, an electro-magnetic competence center of the AVL group. Baier was responsible for control engineering at Sputnik Engineering, where he applied the latest control theory approaches to stabilize classic PWM inverter topologies connected in parallel.
