Dr. Noshir Contractor

Biography

Noshir Contractor is the Jane S. William J. White Professor at Northwestern University's McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science, as well as in the School of Communication and Kellogg School of Management. He serves as the director of the Science of Networks in Communities (SONIC) Research Group. A prominent figure in the fields of network science, computational social science, and web science, Contractor's research focuses on social knowledge networks within various contexts such as business, scientific communities, and healthcare. His work has been consistently funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and other significant organizations including NASA and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He co-authored the influential book "Theories of Communication Networks," which earned the Book of the Year award from the Organizational Communication Division of the National Communication Association. Contractor has received numerous accolades, including fellowships from the Academy of Management, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the International Communication Association. He is highly recognized for his contributions to the field and remains active in academic leadership roles, including editorial responsibilities for several prestigious journals.
