Dr. Noura Karazivan

Biography

Noura Karazivan is a full professor at the Faculty of Law at the Université de Montréal, specializing in Canadian constitutional law, federalism, fundamental rights, and democratic institutions. She serves as a substitute individual member of the Canada European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission). Noura holds bachelor's degrees in civil law and common law from McGill University (2003), a master's degree in public international law from Leiden University (LL.M., 2006), and a doctorate in constitutional law from the Université de Montréal (LL.D., 2012). She is a researcher at the Centre de Recherche Interdisciplinaire sur la Diversité et la Démocratie au Québec (CRIDAQ), and has been actively engaged in numerous academic and professional activities. Appointed as an assistant professor in 2011 and associate professor in 2016, Noura has received several awards for her teaching excellence. Her research interests include Canadian federalism, cooperative federalism, the application of fundamental rights clauses, and sub-state constitutionalism. She has published extensively in various academic journals and regularly participates as a speaker at national and international conferences.
