Biography

Nuha Alshabani is an Assistant Professor at Boston University, affiliated with the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in Psychiatry. She earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Akron, where she also completed her MA and her BS at Baldwin Wallace College. Dr. Alshabani is a licensed psychologist and a Senior Research Specialist at the Boston Medical Center's Recovery Stress Trauma Outpatient Care, Research, Education (RESTORE) Center, as well as the Immigrant Refugee Health Center (IRHC). Her research is focused on enhancing health equity in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), particularly among marginalized groups. She has extensive experience collaborating with communities to design and implement interventions aimed at improving cultural responsiveness in PTSD treatment. Dr. Alshabani has published numerous works and has received various awards for her contributions to the field, including the Distinguished Dissertation Award from the American Arab, Middle Eastern, North African Psychological Association and several grants to support her research endeavors. She completed her predoctoral clinical internship at Denver Health Medical Center and underwent post-doctoral training in the Trauma Context Department of Psychiatry at Boston Medical Center.
