Nuno Porto received his PhD from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, specializing in Museum Anthropology with a focus on African South American collections. His PhD dissertation examined the intersections of colonialism, science, and museum culture, and was awarded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. His recent curatorial projects, such as 'Sankofa: African Routes, Canadian Roots,' emphasize the importance of African Black contemporary art and heritage. Additionally, his teaching includes courses that highlight key debates in African art and its diasporas, contributing to UBC's African Studies Minor.
