Nuria graduated in Chemistry from the University of Barcelona and pursued PhD studies in hydrogen storage materials with Professor Gregory at the University of Glasgow. After that, she moved to the University of St. Andrews to work as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Professor Bruce, focusing on energy storage materials. In 2014, she transitioned to Professor Bruce's research group at the University of Oxford (Materials Department), where she served as a Research Fellow and took on the role of Team Leader for the Sodium-ion battery team. She started her independent career as a Lecturer in Chemistry at Lancaster University, where she was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2020. In November 2022, her research group moved to Imperial College London, retaining her position as a Senior Lecturer. Dr. Tapia-Ruiz has received several awards, including the SRUK Emerging Talent Award (2022), Lancaster Researcher of the Year Award (2021), Royal Society of Chemistry Mobility Award (2019), CAMS Fellowship Award (2019), STFC Batteries Proof of Concept Award (2017), and STFC Batteries Experimental Design Award (2016). The Tapia-Ruiz lab consists of a multidisciplinary research group comprising students and postdocs with interests in Physics, Chemistry, and Materials for Energy Storage, primarily in the area of electrochemical energy storage devices such as rechargeable batteries and supercapacitors. She emphasizes collaboration, equality, and respect within her lab and aims to create a positive work environment for her team.
