Biography

Nutifafa Y. Doumon is an interdisciplinary scientist with a background in physics, nanoscience, and leadership. His primary research focus is on next-generation photovoltaic optoelectronic technologies. Doumon joined Penn State’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering in 2023 as an assistant professor. Before joining Penn State, he was a researcher at INRS-EMT in Canada, where he explored solar technologies. He has also worked at the Chemistry Nanoscience Center at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado, where he was involved in SETO’s Perovskite PV Accelerator and commercializing technologies. With over a decade of experience and expertise in physics, nanoscience, materials science, and energy research, he is committed to education, women's participation in STEM, and addressing global climate change and sustainable energy transitions. Doumon values cross-disciplinary collaboration in research and works closely with graduate students in the IGDP program in Materials Science and Engineering at Penn State. His recent research activities focus on organic/polymer, halide perovskite, and quantum dot semiconductors for indoor and outdoor photovoltaic devices, emphasizing stability and reliability testing.
