Biography

Nwabundo Anusim, M.D., MPH, is a medical educator focusing on hematology training for medical professionals. His research interests include classical malignant hematology. Anusim has received the American Society of Hematology Medical Educator Institute award for his work in developing a curriculum for the management of acute complications in sickle cell disease. He is collaborating with pediatric hematologists at Dell Medical School to create a program supporting pediatric sickle cell patients as they transition to adult clinics. Anusim is also spearheading the establishment of a comprehensive sickle cell disease center focused on the care of adults with sickle cell disease in Austin. He serves as the principal investigator on a grant addressing disparities in care for patients with sickle cell disease. Anusim has built a strong regional and international presence as a regular contributor and presenter in his field. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology Leadership Institute and advocates for patients with sickle cell disease. Currently, he instructs and mentors medical students and physicians in training while providing care to patients at the adult inpatient and outpatient hematology/oncology services of Dell Seton Medical Center and Ascension Seton Specialty Care Center.
