Biography

Nyasha Junior is an associate professor in the Department of Study of Religion at the University of Toronto, having joined the faculty in 2022. Her research primarily focuses on the Hebrew Bible and Old Testament, particularly exploring themes of reception history and the intersections of religion with race and gender. She is the author of 'Introduction to Womanist Biblical Interpretation' published by Westminster John Knox Press in 2015 and 'Reimagining Hagar: Blackness in the Bible' from Oxford University Press in 2019. Additionally, she co-authored 'Black Samson: The Untold Story of an American Icon', also published by Oxford University Press in 2020.
