Biography

Dr. Nyia Noel is an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. She holds an MD from the University of Michigan Medical School and an MPH from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Dr. Noel completed her fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Her clinical research focuses on conditions such as fibroids and endometriosis, health disparities related to maternal morbidity and mortality, and healthcare access. In July 2021, she established the Fibroid Center at Boston Medical Center, aiming to provide exceptional care and advocacy for patients affected by fibroids. Dr. Noel is also a co-investigator in a research program aimed at increasing participation of underrepresented groups in medical research. Additionally, she has worked on initiatives to promote low-dose aspirin use during pregnancy to mitigate health risks for at-risk women. Her commitment to health equity is reflected in her role as Vice President of Partnerships and Engagement for the New England Medical Association, advocating for the voices of Black physicians in the region.
