Biography

Oana holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Tribology from Imperial College London. During her doctoral studies, she worked as a Research Associate at the University of Manchester for two years, where she developed a fascination for mechanobiological research, combining her engineering background with biological expertise. From 2017 to 2022, Oana served as a Research Associate at the Centre for Cellular Microenvironment (CeMi) at the University of Glasgow, where her research focused on developing and characterizing full-length protein-based hydrogels for efficient growth factor delivery in tissue engineering applications. Her work had a particular emphasis on bone tissue regeneration, spinal cord injuries, and vascularization.
