Biography

Oana Druta is an Associate Professor in the Housing Inclusivity and Urban Living research group at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) within the Department of Built Environment. A social and cultural geographer and urban planner, she focuses on issues such as young adult housing precarity, participation in urban commons, shared flexible living, and the intergenerational relations in homeownership. Her research has spanned various urban contexts, including Detroit, Tokyo, Birmingham, Bucharest, Milan, and Amsterdam. Oana has been actively involved in coordinating initiatives like the Eindhoven Young Academy Engineering and promoting research in housing for young people across European networks. Between 2022 and 2025, she leads the Dutch segment of the CoNECT project under the JPI Urban Europe, emphasizing ecological transitions through community resilience. Oana is also an associate editor for the International Journal of Housing Policy and contributes to advisory boards for Housing Studies and Housing Society.
