Dr. Octavia Cox

Biography

Octavia Cox is a Departmental Lecturer in Lifelong Learning in English Literature at the University of Oxford. She specializes in literature of the long eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with a focus on literary self-consciousness, intertextuality, metatextuality, paratextuality, literary inheritances, legacies, canonicity, counter-canonicity, and women’s writing. Octavia has earned an undergraduate MA in English Philosophy from the University of St Andrews and a MA with Distinction in Romantic Victorian Literary Studies from Durham University. She completed her DPhil at the University of Oxford, researching 'Pope’s Poetic Legacy, 1744-1830.' With over a decade of teaching experience, Octavia has instructed a diverse student body, covering open access, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses in various institutions, including the University of Oxford and Middlebury College. Her scholarly contributions encompass peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, indicating a profound engagement with literary scholarship. Additionally, she shares her insights through online video lectures on classic literature and literary analysis on her YouTube channel.
