Dr. Oded Cats

Biography

Oded Cats is a professor in the Department of Transport and Planning and a co-leader of the Smart Public Transport Lab at TU Delft. His research interests lie at the intersection of transport networks, operations, policy, and travel behavior, especially in the context of multi-modal metropolitan public transport systems. He holds dual PhDs from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. His primary research aims to develop theories and models of multi-modal passenger transport networks by integrating advancements from behavioral sciences, operations research, and complex network theory. The main applications of his work focus on metropolitan public transport systems, emphasizing route choice, service optimization, control, and robustness, while also considering travel information reliability. Oded's research has significant implications for public transport agencies' operational decision-making. He is actively involved in various research themes, including planning and managing metropolitan public transport networks, tactical real-time optimization of public transport systems, and evaluating travel behavior policies. He has published works in recognized journals and serves on multiple editorial boards.
