Oguzhan Bayrak is a Professor and Director of the Ferguson Structural Engineering Laboratory at the Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He holds the Cockrell Family Chair in Engineering. His research focuses on Structural Engineering, particularly the behavior, analysis, and design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. He has published extensively on bridge engineering, the evaluation of structural distress, the use of fiber reinforced polymers for structural repair, and earthquake engineering. His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering/Structures from the University of Toronto, which he completed in 1999, a Master's degree in the same field from the University of Toronto in 1995, and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 1992. Prof. Bayrak has received numerous awards, including the Joe J. King Professional Engineering Achievement Award in 2021 and the Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award in 2012 from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers at the university.
