Oguzhan Bayrak is a Professor and Director of the Ferguson Structural Engineering Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin. He holds the Cockrell Family Chair and specializes in structural engineering. His research focuses on the behavior, analysis, and design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures, including bridge engineering and structural evaluation for distress. He is also experienced in the use of fiber-reinforced polymers for structural repair and earthquake engineering. Bayrak obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering/Structures from the University of Toronto in 1999, following a Master’s degree in the same field in 1995, and a Bachelor’s degree from the Middle East Technical University in 1992. Over the years, he has been recognized with multiple awards for his contributions to engineering education and research, including the Joe J. King Professional Engineering Achievement Award in 2021 from the University of Texas at Austin, and the Chester Paul Siess Award from the American Concrete Institute in 2014. He has also been acknowledged as a distinguished teacher in the academia.
