Biography

Oka Kurniawan is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Education at Singapore University of Technology and Design. Born in Indonesia, he moved to Singapore in 2000 to pursue his studies in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University. He completed his Bachelor's degree in 2004 and obtained his PhD in Semiconductor Physics in 2008. Following his doctoral studies, he worked at the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), A*STAR, Singapore, where he contributed to various research projects focusing on numerical methods to solve problems in quantum mechanics, electromagnetics, and plasmonics. After a term at IHPC, he transitioned to teaching, first as an adjunct lecturer at DigiPen Singapore and later at Singapore Polytechnic. In 2011, he joined SUTD, where he continues to teach and engage in research. His main research interests include simulation modeling, scientific computing, and numerical methods in physics, specifically related to semiconductor devices and healthcare projects. Oka is passionate about teaching and research, enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending time outdoors with his family.
