Dr. Oksana Motalo joined the Department of Medicine at Queen’s University in 2025 as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology, with a cross-appointment in the Department of Oncology. A native of Northern Ontario, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and undergraduate medical education at Laurentian University in Sudbury. She went on to complete her residency in Internal Medicine at McMaster University, followed by a residency in Hematology at Queen’s University and a fellowship in Transplant Cellular Therapies at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Motalo is involved at Queen’s BC Cancer – Kelowna, where she has helped launch a malignant hematology program. Her practice area focuses on complex malignant hematology, which includes bone marrow failure, stem cell transplantation, chimeric antigen receptor therapy (CAR-T), and rare hematologic diseases such as histiocytoses and mast cell disorders. She is a member of the Canadian Leukemia Study Group and the Inherited Bone Marrow Failure Working Group as well as the Canadian Castleman Disease National Interest Group. Her academic interests encompass health outcomes research and resident education.
