Biography

Ola Rashwan earned his Ph.D. in Engineering Materials from the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. His research primarily focuses on micro-surface texturing to enhance tribological properties. Dr. Rashwan investigates the optimization of micro and nano surface features to improve the behavior of materials in contact, employing a combination of numerical and experimental methods. His work explores the effects of micro and nano-texturing parameters across a wide range of applications, including metal forming dies and microelectromechanical systems (MEMEs). Prior to joining Penn State Harrisburg, he held engineering positions at IKEA and AGC Glass North America. Dr. Rashwan is affiliated with professional organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers.
