Biography

Olaf Bayer is a Research Associate and Tutor at Oxford Lifelong Learning, University of Oxford, where he supervises D.Phil students and teaches courses in Archaeology and Landscape Archaeology. He holds a BA and PhD in Archaeology from the University of Leicester and University of Central Lancashire, respectively, and an MA in Landscape Archaeology from the University of Sheffield. With a strong background as a professional field archaeologist, he has worked on various projects, including as a project officer for the Archaeology East Oxford Project, where he led geophysical surveys and excavations. His research interests are in the landscapes of the Mesolithic, Neolithic, and Early Bronze Age in southern and western Britain, with a particular focus on community participation in archaeological research. He has contributed to several archaeological projects, including investigations into the Lower Exe Valley and the Stonehenge Riverside Project, and has extensive experience in lithic analysis and geophysical surveys. Olaf also engages in D.Phil supervision and co-supervises research on early Neolithic causewayed enclosures. He is actively involved in promoting archaeological education and training for local residents and students.
