Biography

Ole Tietz is a Senior Research Fellow and Group Leader at the Dementia Research Centre, Macquarie Medical School. He studied Chemistry at Imperial College London and completed his PhD in Oncology at the University of Alberta. Ole has held research fellowships at the University of Cambridge, where he developed imaging agents for early markers of neurodegeneration, and the University of Oxford, where he focused on developing new therapeutics to treat cancer. His current research interests include developing novel drugs for the effective diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, including Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease, Motor Neuron Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. Ole's work involves rational design of small molecules targeting protein-protein interfaces and development of biologics, peptides, and antibodies that target important biomolecular pathways driving disease progression. He aspires to build therapeutics tailored to address the global challenge of dementia.
