Biography

Olena Zhulyn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. Her primary research focuses on the extreme biology of the axolotl, a highly regenerative aquatic salamander, to understand how vertebrates rebuild tissues. Utilizing axolotls and mice as in vitro model systems, she investigates the role of regulated translation in tissue regeneration and rejuvenation repair through a combination of genetic and molecular imaging techniques. Her work aims to uncover fundamental biological processes and explore new avenues for therapeutic intervention in molecular medicine and human genetics.
