Biography

Olga Vitek is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics at Purdue University. She obtained her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Econometrics and Statistics from the University of Geneva in 1995 and 1997, respectively. She continued her studies at Purdue University, earning an M.S. in Mathematical Statistics in 2001 and a Ph.D. in Statistics in 2005. Vitek’s research interests encompass various areas including Bayesian analysis, Combinatorial Optimization, Computational Methods, Statistical Inference, Data Analysis, and Machine Learning. Throughout her academic career, she has earned multiple awards and honors, including the Purdue University Faculty Scholar award in 2013 and the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2011. Vitek has also been recognized for her mentoring efforts, receiving the College of Science Graduate Student Mentoring Award in February 2010. She is committed to fostering a robust educational environment and has contributed significantly to the Department of Statistics through her teaching and research.
