Dr. Olga Yakusheva

Biography

Olga Yakusheva is a recognized expert in the economic value of nursing and its contributions to patient, societal, and organizational outcomes. She currently holds the position of Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and serves as the Economics Editor for the International Journal of Nursing Studies. With a solid academic background in mathematics and economics, she has specialized in economic theory, methods, and big data analytics. Yakusheva completed her post-doctoral training in health services research at the Yale Schools of Medicine and Public Health. She has published extensively in nursing, economics, policy, and health services research journals, and is the principal investigator of multiple studies funded by the American Nurses’ Association, examining ways to optimize nursing care delivery in hospitals. Furthermore, she serves as an economic advisor to the ANA Enterprise and is actively involved in initiatives aimed at framing and articulating the economic value of the nursing profession, including the organization of national summits. Her recent works include a six-part series in Nursing Outlook focusing on value-informed nursing practice and leadership, advocating for innovative payment models in nursing reimbursement.
