Biography

Dr. Bathe is a Professor in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, specializing in surgical oncology with a focus on hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and gastrointestinal tumors. His clinical research interests aim at improving patient outcomes for cancers of the liver, pancreas, and gastrointestinal tract. His laboratory, the University of Calgary Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal Tumor Bank, houses over 22,000 samples from 4,000 patients and collaborates nationally and internationally on cancer genome projects. His research includes mapping metabolomic features of various tumors and developing diagnostic blood tests for pancreatic and colorectal cancers. Dr. Bathe has received multiple awards for his research and teaching excellence and contributes significantly to ongoing collaborations in cancer research.
