Dr. Oliver Ehrt

Biography

Oliver Ehrt is a Professor of Strabismology, Pediatric and Neuroophthalmology at the University Hospital of Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) Munich. He has a profound educational background with studies in physics and human medicine across prestigious institutions, including RWTH Aachen and the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London. His clinical training was completed at the Eye Clinic of LMU Munich from 1992 to 1997, where he later became a senior physician in the section of strabismology and pediatric ophthalmology. He has significantly contributed to the fields of functional diagnostics in eye care, particularly through the establishment of specialized units for macular function testing using Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy (SLO). Ehrt has been involved in various national and international associations, including serving as the president of the European Strabismological Society. His research focuses on multiple aspects of strabismus treatment, early detection of amblyopia, and advanced techniques in pediatric retinopathy. Ehrt actively leads courses and workshops aimed at training future generations of ophthalmologists and has made substantial contributions to numerous publications in the field of ophthalmology, reflecting his deep commitment to education and research.
