Biography

Oliver Okafor is an Associate Professor and Director of the Professional Master’s Diploma in Accounting at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University. He joined the university in 2017 and has held various roles including Academic Coordinator for Accounting programs and Director of the CPA Ontario Centre for Public Sector Accounting Accountability since 2022. Oliver has a distinguished academic background with degrees including an MBA and PhD with a specialization in Accounting Taxation from the University of Calgary. He is a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), UK Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA). Prior to his academic career, he amassed experience in the banking and government education sectors, working at Bank Nigeria Plc and Royal Bank Canada, and served as a tax auditor/trainer for CRA. Oliver's research interests are centered on tax compliance, accountability, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), with his work published in prominent peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics and the Canadian Tax Journal. He has received several awards including the TRSM Dean's Teaching Award in 2022 and YSGS Outstanding Contributions to Graduate Education in 2023.
